Brief Description:  Rear canopy slide-2

Worked on the bend in the 804 cap strip a bit more until it matched the bend in the 805 spacer. Marked the 2 holes in the fore end of the 804, pilot drilled to 1/16”, then up to #41. Clecoed and clamped the 804 & 805 together and match drilled these 2 holes. Plans show that the last hole is to be “drilled in assembly” with the canopy receptacle. Hmmm, don’t know how to do that—drilling from the bottom will be a sheer guess. So, I drilled the hole thru the 805, the clamped to the 804 and match drilled it as well. Drilled up to 1/8”. This hole has to be drilled perpendicular with the bevel on the end of the 805 spacer. I eyeballed it and it came out darn close to the angle specified on the plans. When I install the canopy rail, I plan to use the hole to make a mark on the canopy receptacle. Then pilot drill the receptacle, and finally do the final drill from the bottom. Also put the 806 block into the receptacle to check fit—I had to put a slight bevel on the aft edge. Match drilled the 804 and 805 to #27 for screws that will attach the rail to the rear deck skin. Ready to start countersinking next.
