Cold here today—high of 24 with snow. Seemed only fitting to work on the heater control for the plane. I had previously mounted the TG-10 heat valve to the firewall, but need a method to open and close it. Plans are zero help on running a cable, so I followed Bill Crissinger’s method of routing the push/pull cable—thanks Bill! I made a bracket which will secure the cable near the control arm of the valve. I used a couple of MSP-42 pop rivets to attach this bracket to the vertical angle backing up the firewall. I climbed into the plane to make sure the location of the handle would be convient (flew around the shop for a bit--loops & rolls, etc). I used a #30 long bit to drill a hole thru both sides of the right gear tower for mounting the push/pull cable handle. Opened up the aft side to 3/8” with a step drill. Drilled out the front side of the tower to #12. Cable fits thru the front side of the tower, but probably need to open it up a bit more and add some sort of anti chafe protection. I need to add a couple of clamps along the length of the cable to secure it close to the firewall—maybe tomorrow. This seemed like a simple project, but took way too long—partly because I screwed up the first attach angle when match drilling to the support angle—drilled it too close to the edge-so had to make another.
