Finished with NACA wing vent. Before riveting the vent inside the skin, I needed to find a way to keep the flex hose from chaffing inside the 4 ribs it passes thru. I could not find anything on the internet, so I came up with a plan—hope it works long term. I took some 3/8” vinyl tubing and wrapped it around a coffee can (about the same diameter as the hole in the ribs). I carefully split the outside of the tubing with a razor blade. Then I filled the inside of the tube with RTV and inserted the tube inside the lightening hole of each rib—gives a pretty decent cushion and the RTV should hold it in place for a very long time. Next, I gooped up the face of the vent and slipped it inside the wing and pop riveted it to the skin. Done! Again, it seems like I spent waaaaay toooo much time on this part. But then I’m sure my rear seat passenger will appreciate the cool air.
