Brief Description:  L. Wing-set aileron neutral, tap tie down bars

Found a piece of 1” wide, 4’ long aluminum strap at HoDePo. Drilled holes to match the tooling holes in the end rib, and drew parallel lines along the edge of each hole down the length of the strap. Stuck in some bolts and clamped it to the end rib. I set the end of the aileron between the parallel lines. Then using the little tool that came with the wing, I set the pushrod length to “aileron neutral”. Next I drilled the W-731 tie down bar 1.25” deep with a 5/16” drill, then tapped using a 3/8 x 16 tap. When tapping aluminum, you need to use plenty of lube and go slowly. The tap needs about a half turn, then back up and go again. After a couple of full revolutions, I removed the tap and cleaned out the cuttings, then went again until I had threads 1” deep. Then I did the other wing. After that, I hung the right aileron. All the little washers and spacers seemed to go in much easier than the left aileron.
