Used a tubing cutter to cut both W-816 and W-818 to length per the plans. Used the "measure twice, cut once" method—slightly modified. I measured at least 3 or 4 times and was able to get right on the money (assuming my tape is accurate!). Saw a couple of online logs where builders cut a little short for one reason or another. Can’t imagine 1/16” could cause an issue—looks like plenty of threads on the rod end bearing would compensate. For certain- the W-816 is a more manageable length now.
