Brief Description:  Empennage Fairing-2

During construction of the HS & VS, the drawings clearly point out areas that the builder should “leave holes open” in the skin and ribs. I assumed this meant don’t rivet them. Ok, I didn’t, but apparently it also means “don’t dimple” as well. Hmm, I had dimpled the holes. These holes need nut plates to accept screws used to secure the F868 fairing. The fairing is thick enough for a c/s and tinnerman washers. So, tonight I removed both VS & HS. I used the pneumatic squeezer to flatten the previously dimpled holes, then I reattached the VS & HS. Now I’m ready to drill the fairing to the holes in the HS & VS. For the lower portion of the fairing, I plan to deviate from the plans and fab a fiberglass fairing.
