Brief Description:  Bottom rudder cap-9

I added a tie wrap to the nylon block inside the tail cone, and then installed the VS. Next I installed the rudder with the bottom cap clecoed in place. There is still some interference between the cap and something. I was thinking it was the sides of the fuse, but closer inspection revealed it was actually the bolt heads that secure the VS spar to the rear bulkhead. I tried to remove the bottom cap, but it can’t be done with the rudder in place. I removed the center and bottom temporary pins from the hinge which allowed the rudder to swing aft about an inch, thus allowing for the cap to be removed. I ran a tape line across the nose of the cap and up each side. Removed the material from the cap up to the tape line. Installed the cap, then added the pins back to hinges. The fit was better but still needed more clearance. Went thru this exercise several more times before I had trimmed enough to achieve clearance between the cap and VS spar bolts. Now there is enough clearance to swing the rudder and contact the stops on each side.
