I added the VS tip and match drilled thru the VS into the tip. I marked a couple of different size drill bits to use only on fiberglass—really dulls them quickly. I removed the tip and checked the edge distance again. A couple of holes were slightly close, so I made cut some .025 backup strips. I clamped them to the tip and used a Whitney punch to transfer the holes from the tip to the doubler. Cleaned up inside the tip as well as the aluminum strip. Mixed up a batch of T88 adhesive and glued the backup strips inside the tip. Inserted clecoes and clamps to hold in place while the adhesive dries. Next I match drilled thru the rudder into the rudder tip. On the last holes on each side of the aft end of the rudder tip the opposing pop rivets would interfer with each other, so I offset one side by .35”. From there I followed the same procedure as on the VS--stopped just short of applying the T88 adhesive.
