Brief Description: Bent Elevator Skins, Drilled Lead Weights
With help from my son, Brad, we bent the trailing edges of the left and right elevators and the trim tab. Next, we used Avery’s temporary alignment pins to hang the rudder on the VS for a trial fit. I adjusted the rod ends per plan specs and they worked out very close-had to screw the top rod end in half a turn. Rudder swings very freely! Later, that day, I drilled the lead counterweights to the ribs. Drilled with #40 and plenty of Boelube. The hole on one rib was a bit off, so I corrected the angle of the drill and drilled to #12. Came out in the center of the rib, but the pilot hole was still at the edge of the rib—will have to order another rib. Drilled the other holes to #12 and alignment in ribs turned out ok.
