Whoo-hoo, got my tailwheel endorsement today! I’ve been taking lessons in an Aeronca Champ with an excellent instructor. Afterwards, back at the hangar, I moved my plane out, climbed in and fired it up. I taxied around the apron just to check steering and brakes—all seems to work. I also did a radio check with the tower to make sure communications were ok. This is probably last engine start before first flight. I wanted one more start with the cowling on, so I can check to make sure there is nothing rubbing anywhere under the cowl. Now, I’ll have to start taking it apart for an inspection. I did note that the CHT’s are much cooler with the cowling in place. One last issue—transponder is not working properly—probably a couple of pins got reversed. I’ll have to run that down, then call for a transponder check before final inspection.
