Brief Description:  Raised plane-weight off the wheels

I didn’t get any actual work done on the plane, but I did spend about 5 hours getting the plane jacked up so that the wheels are just off the floor. I checked with Van’s regarding lifting the plane by the motor mounts as well as supporting the plane on a 4x4 block placed under the outboard brackets of the gear attachment—tech guys said ok & ok. They did suggest lifting by the motor mount near where it attaches to the firewall to minimize leverage on the mount as well as to widen the pickup points for stability. I used my engine hoist and some heavy duty tie downs to lift as Van’s suggested. The fuse came up just fine, so I raised the tail and supported on sawhorses. I fiddled around to find an approximate spacing between the floor and the gear attach brackets so that the tires would clear the floor enough to turn without contact. I left the engine hoist in place as a safety measure. I still need to level the plane, so I’m not quite ready to begin fitting the pants to the plane. Also, I found a T hangar at KGYI which I rented today! As soon as I get these pants installed, I'll be moving!
