Brief Description: Oil door fitting, continue cowl work
Early today I installed the oil door then mixed up a batch of micro. I spread this on the cowling around the edges of the door. I also applied to areas of the inlets on the upper cowl. After the micro was dry, I sanded around the oil door—finally popped it open. I dressed up the edges of the opening on the cowl with a small file until I had nice seam where the door fits flush. I sanded the inlet areas of the nose—still have a few spots to fix, so I mixed up some SuperFil and applied. This evening I sanded these areas—turned out well. I also sanded the oil door with some #320 paper, then shot a coat of sanding primer on it. After this dried, I lightly sanded again, then shot a coat of NAPA 7220 primer on the door. I believe both upper and lower cowl are now ready for some resin/acetone mix so that tomorrow I can begin the pin hole dance.
