Well, the sanding filler revealed plenty of problem areas in the upper cowl. The fiberglass seems to have lots of “weave” showing. I thought I had sanded enough of it and with 2 coats of resin/micro, I thought it should be very slick—it wasn’t. I can still see the “weave” in the glass. So, I sanded one area a bunch more and shot another coat of sanding filler. After it dried, it lightly sanded and shot another coat. This seems much better than before. I suppose I’ll sand all of the sanding filler off and then more aggressively sand the cowl. In the cowl openings, I tried a different approach. I sanded with #80 grit, the mixed up and applied some SuperFil with a credit card. There were also some spots that needed filling. After it dried, I lightly sanded. Next, I’ll shoot a coat of sanding primer and see how this works. It’s hard to make much progress in this 100 degree + heat.
