Brief Description:  Trim aft part of top cowl

I posted a pic on VAF regarding the question of the face of the cowling being offset—the responses were that it should be offset. It was molded this way to compensate for the offset of the engine. I did not find any mention of this in the plans. I worked on the nesting parts where the upper cowl fits over the lower cowl. I finally got it as close as I could—it will take some fiberglass work for a final fit. While clamped together, I drilled a hole inside the inlet and clecoed the two halves together. Next, I began the process of fitting the upper cowl to the plane, I had previously drawn a line on the boot cowl 2” back from the edge. I got the upper cowl in place and transferred the 2” line onto the cowl. Removed the cowl and connected all of the dots—then used my dremel to cut off the excess. I cut just outside the line, the re-fit the cowl. I noted where the cowl needed more trimming. Then, a process of remove, sand re-install, repeat, repeat, repeat until the rear of the cowl was even and fit against the skin of the boot cowl. I slowly trimmed the aft portion, pushing the cowling back until I had ¼” clearance with the spinner. I need to fine tune it some more, be getting close to a final fit.
