Brief Description:  L. wing root gap seals, safety oil sender

I took the empennage fairing to the hangar today and tried to fit it into place. It still fits—almost. I zip tied the trim wires the elevator horn a few weeks ago, and now there is not enough clearance where the fairing fits around the tube. I removed the fairing and will relieve the area on the left side for some additional clearance. Naturally, my dremel is not at the hangar. Moving on, I installed the rubber gap seal on the left side—what fun that was. With the warm weather last week, I noticed that the wasps are beginning to get active, which means the dang mud-dobbers aren’t far behind. I used a small piece of screen wire to form a critter barrier for the fuel vent tubes. I secured this was some safety wire. Next, I safety wired the oil sender unit. When I received the sender, it had no holes for safe wiring, so I drilled some. This was sometime last year, so it was about time to get it finished up. I ran the safety wire down to the oil filter—although the filter had a separate safety wire, now it has two. At first oil change, I’ll open up the hole the filter is wired to so that it can be used for both the filter and the sender. I pulled out the Nav lens covers and installed the left side. I will wait until I get the right wing tip finished up (loose fit) before installing that side. I should get the oversized pins later this week.
