I decided to suspend work on the wheel pants for now. One thing I noticed is that while the weight is off the gear, that the tail of the pant is not vertical. So, I removed the jacks and set the plane back down. The tail of the pant gets much closer to vertical now. I think the Grove gear is “springier” than Van’s stock gear. I want the tail of the pant to sit vertical while the plane is on the ground, so I’ll fit them after I have full weight (wings installed, etc) on the wheels. Then, I moved to another task—prepping to move the project to a T-hangar at the airport! Really didn’t take much prep work other than finding a club member with a trailer that would handle the gear width. More to follow---
