Brief Description:  Finish ELT antenna, wire mini din plug

I fabbed up a piece of RG400 to use for the ELT antenna cable—I couldn’t use the pre-fab cable that came with the ELT cause it already had terminals on both ends. I made a little standoff which I pop riveted to the bulkhead just before the ELT mount to hold the coax cable—so as to not run the cable thru the bulkhead. After the antenna wire was in place, I ran the 4 conductor telephone cable up to the front near the right gear tower—had to cut the RJ11 terminal off to get the wire thru some snap bushings. I’ll crimp on a new terminal after I get the ELT remote indicator mounted. Then, I started on soldering the wires to the mini din connector. What a disaster. There are 4 micro pins that you are supposed to solder the power, ground, test and the GPS input wires to. I soldered the test lead on the bench—worked ok. Tried to solder the others inside the plane—well, that did not work. So, back to the bench and solder on 3 short pig tails to the mini din pins. I checked each connection with an ohm meter to insure I hadn’t fused anything together inside the plug. Back in the plane, I soldered the pig tails to the corresponding wires. I covered each connection with shrink tubing, then, per the instructions, I filled the din housing cavity with RTV and slid the cover over it. This pretty much wraps up the aft end—just need to mount the remote unit and buzzer
