Brief Description: Bonded backing strips for plexi covers
Part 2—I mixed up some resin and thickened it up with flox. I applied the mixture to the inside of the tip where the backing strip with nutplates will reside. I installed three #6 screws and tightened them down--this caused the resin mix to squish out the holes in the backing strips and fill the uneven surface in the wing tip. Then I covered the end of the nutplate and exposed screw threads with a small glob of modeling clay—don’t want to bond the screws permanently in place! I made a small fillet around the strip and coated the exposed side with resin as well. Several hours later I removed the screws—looks like the backing plate is now a permanent part of the wing tip
