Brief Description:  Trim L. inboard lower flap skin

I finished up the left flap fairing—trimmed forward lower part and marked for a new attachment hole. I center punched and drilled a #41 hole, then clecoed the fairing back onto the fuse. Match drilled the final hole—done with this fairing. In looking back, the flap fairings were not near as difficult as I had imagined they would be. It’s very hard to visualize how it is supposed to look from referencing the plans, but once I taped it on, it suddenly became clear. One last thing to be done is trimming the inboard lower skin of the flaps to match the edge of the lower fuse center skin. I raised the flaps to the up position and drew a trim line on the flaps. Removed the left flap and cut off the excess with some snips, then filed down to the trim line. Re-installed the flap and checked again—need a little more trim. This process went on for five more times—finally got a decent fit. I also slightly rolled the edge to better fit the fuse skin, but there is still a gap at the aft end. Other builder logs report the same issue—merely cosmetic and I can live with it—just rather have it completely flush. Not many people are going to lay under the plane to check the fit anyway. Also, there is a gap between the two overlapping skins on the flap bottom--I marked, drilled, dimpled and squeezed in a rivet--plans don't show this, but looks to me something should be done in this area. Next, I marked the right flap to trim the inboard skin—then removed the flap. I’ll get it trimmed tomorrow.
