Brief Description:  1st order of spruce and ply

I guess this would actually be the very first day of starting my build. I am finally placing my first order of wood to start building my Volmer Jensen VJ -22 Amphibian aircraft. I am very excited to start this project that has been in the planning stages for about 3 years. It seems like a millininum.

Drove 45 minutes to Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Co. today. Foolishly hoping to just walk in and they would have the sizes i needed in stock. Ha! jokes on me. They only had two pieces of plywood i needed. One 1/8" 90degree Mohagony 2' x 4' piece and one 1/16" 90degree Mohagony 2' x 4' piece. I was still missing two more 1/16" pieces of ply and all the spruce pieces. I placed the order for the wood still needed and they said it would be ready by next week. They told me they would call to let me know i could pick it up.

On the way home i stopped at two stores to pick up supplies to make my wing rib jig, The first store was S&W Plastics. There i picked up two pieces of acrylic. One was 1/16"x12"x72" and the other was 1/2"x6"x6". The second store was Home Depot where i found a piece of MDF that was a cull cut for $2.01. A cull cut is the left over piece when someone wants to only buy a smaller piece from a sheet that is 4ft x 8ft. This piece was 1ft x 8ft and 3/4' thick. It has a white melamine surface. Perfect for what i need it for. I also picked up some #8 screws both 1" and 2" size along with some #8 washers. I headed home to assess what my next move was to be.
