Brief Description:  Horizontal Stabilizer Assembly (Skeleton & Skin)

It's been WAY too long to remember all the details, but I know it took a LONG time to get to the skeleton stage shown in the 1st picture... (Empannage was ordered in 1992!) I spent a *LOT* of time radiusing and polishing the bar stock that fits in the horizontal stabiilizer rear spar so it conformed to the curve of the spar channel. After getting everything just right and priming the spar parts, I did my first riveting and managed to put a few small 'smileys' in the bar stock & rivet heads (I had the gun pressure too high and the action of the gun was also a bit 'stiff' and relatively hard to control compared to older guns that had quite a bit of use. Mine was a new gun from US Industrial tool... Maybe it had some thickened oil in it, maybe some slight corrosion, maybe ???? Anyways, I ended up ordering new rear spar components and re-doing the rear spar assembly, even though (in retrospect) it was probably quite salvageable. Since I was just starting out and had spent so much time making the parts really smooth/scratch free etc, I decided to start over. After 'freeing up' the gun with some light oil (I think I used WD-40 both in the air port and down the 'barrel') and reducing the air pressure to around 20-30psi, things went better. I still sometimes have trouble with the gun where it makes a 'buzzing' sound, but doesn't actually 'hammer'.
