Brief Description: Leading edge rolling & hinge cut-outs
Here's a few shots of bending the leading edge. In #1, the top leading edge is mostly completed. #2 shows the same thing, with the 'start' of the edge cut-outs where the rod-end bearings go that attach the elevator to the horizontal stabilizer; these will be completed later with a nibbler/dremel/hacksaw etc. #3 shows a small wheel that was useful to start the bend in the skin closer to the 90deg 'flange that comes pre-bent on the skin as it comes from Van's... There's no way (using the pipe) to take the bend all the way to the flange unless you can get in there with something smaller.... I used this wheel and some finger pressure to create a slight bend very close to this flange along the length of the leading edge (kind of like a tiny 'english wheel' although this was just used for bending, not stretching
Pipe used to roll leading edge taped to skin
Leading edge cut-outs started with holes
Quick-n-dirty wheel to 'tighten' bend radius in selected areas (nearest 90deg flange seen in pics 1&2
