My brother Ed gave me some think plastic block. I designed this shape from the required function. I decided to use just one #3 bolt to attach it. Using two #8 flat head screws may have been a better idea, because with one bolt the plastic can turn slightly. But too late now.
The block slides up into the space between the outer edge of the canopy and latching hook. The hook hits the block on the way down and slides into it's hole.
