Recall there are 3 outboard holes that are raised above the tube. I saw at Arlington EAA fly in that a lot of guys just put spacers inbetween the skin and tube. The spacers are made of aluminum pipe. So that's what I'll do.
I need to have these 6 holes (3 each side) finished and ready for final riveting.
So I clecoed the skin back on and carefully drilled thru the holes into the pipe. I used extra light to ensure I got the drill bit into the center of the tube.
Then I got a piece of scrape aluminum pipe and made 3 spacers per side. They are all different lengths. The will allow me to fasten the skin down without deforming it. It will maintain the contour it has now, which is the contour that matches the bottom of the canopy plexi glass.
