Brief Description: Fitting Rear Window 4: Mark & Drill holes
To get accurately located holes I use a scribe to mark the locations with an "X" or cross. Then I punch the center. And with a centering bit the little tip goes right in the dent made with the punch and the resulting hole location is really accurate.
The skin in this area is flexible, so when I did the punches, I used a bucking bar behind the skin to absorb the blow.
And when I drilled the holes I used a block of wood to receive the bit. These are 1/8 holes.
My plexiglass bit is 1/8 and I practiced match drilling thru these holes. It works fine. Even if you start off center the aluminum moves the bit over, and it cuts fine resulting in to holes in perfect alignment.
