Brief Description: Finishing The Frame 8: Install Brass Bushings
UPDATE: This was done after cutting and fitting the canopy.
Now that the canopy is cut and fitted, I need to finish the frame by installing the bushings in the hinges. I had waited till now in case I decided to "move" the holes I originally drilled in the hinges. And I moved the pilot side hole a bit aft 1/32 and the co-pilot side forward the same. This was because I had a bigger gap on the pilot side and a too tight of a fit on the co-pilot side.
I moved the holes with a file. (Not the tapered file). A regular small file. This enlarged the holes slightly but moved the hole centers to new location so when I enlarged them they were in the new location.
To enlarge the holes I used a tapered file. Worked great. When I had the hole close to 3/8 I ran the reamer thru the holes. I had to cut the end off the file so I could put it in my drill. Also I turned the file backwards to cut slowly. Turning it forward cut way tooooo much.
The bushings were easily put into the holes and pressed into place with my pnuematic squeezer.
