After assembling the parts I installed the release mechanism and worked it back n forth. I found a few bugs to fix.
1) The lever was hitting the sub-panel a bit and so I sanded just a little material off so that the lever could pull out just a bit more (photo 2).
2) The distance between the pins was slightly to long and you could feel the bind when going into latch mode. So I elongated the center holes only slightly (1/32) each and that fixed the binding. Shouldn't matter becase the pins are still pushed all the way in, and the elongation doesn't affect pulling the pins out.
3) The wings on the center piece were hitting the corners of the plastic block, so I sanded the corners of the block down.
