Brief Description:  Mount Rudder 3: Adjusting Rudder Stop

I taped a couple pieces of wood on the elevators so the rudder won't swing into them and make a dent. Then I started sanding down the ends of the rudder stop little by little on the belt sander until they stopped the rudder swing just as it contacts the sticks.

I set my mitre guide on the sander to 35 degrees and it worked great and removing material will maintaining the proper angle. It makes sense that the face of the stop is at 35 degrees off set from the edge of the stup that goes against the bulkhead. This gives the 70 degree swing.

Now I have this draft stop made. I'm going to make a new one that is a bit fatter and maybe I'll put it in between the hinge halves. But maybe not because I don't really want to drill holes in the lower hinge bracket. So after I make the fatter stop I'll see how strong it feels bolted on top and if good, I'll call it done. If not I'll try making another one for in between the hinge halves.
