Brief Description:  Aft Fuselage - Drill & Prep 1

Before starting the drilling I hung a couple plum bobs to see if the fuselage was straight. We'll i guess it is. If it isn't I'm not sure what I would do about it. The holes locate everything and the assembly is rigid.

I clamped the ends of the stiffeners and drilled them first. Drilling every 4th hole worked fine. I was able to hold the stiffener with the centerline showing thru the hole. Then I came back and drilled all the rest of the holes. I used ever clecoe.

For the tail cone I removed a clecoe drilled then reinserted the cleco. There aren't that many holes and the tail cone was a tight fit.

Also I decided not to use the external rudder stops and so I measured and drilled the 4 holes that would normally have been used for the rudder stop. Instead I'll use an internal rudder stop. You can see info about this other rudder stop on Vans Airforce Forum at this URL:
