One last thing I was glad to get done today was to replace about 100 rivets that I had drilled out in the top skins. Bob came over and we forward riveted them. I had drilled them out because they bent over using the back rivet process. I'm adding two warnings to my log about using the backrivet process: 1) use more pressure and 2) align the 12 inch set carefully.
For this job we used pre-squeezed rivets to ensure a snug fit in the drilled out holes. I squeezed some -4 length rivets down to -3.5 length. I also squeezed a few -4.5's down but they were too fat for the holes. Looks like squeezing .5 increase diameter by .004.
