Brief Description: Flaps - Drill Hinge On To Wing 3 "Darn"
I proceeded to dril the first couple holes on each side of the flap and insert clecoes. The process worked and the flap was positioned great. But since I was worried about the edge margin, I removed the flap to see.
Sure enough. The hole on the inboard end, next to the aileron was barely shy of 6/32s and the outboard end the edge margin was only about 11/32nds. Neither are enough per engineering.
So, I've ordered the hinge that has a flange 1/8 inch wider on both sides. So this is on hold until that new hinge arrives. I won't replace the flap hinge. I'll just replace the half of the hinge that attaches to the wing.
Lesson learned is, I made the hinge on the flap to far in. I probably could have made this hinge work if I was near edge margins of 3/16 on both flap and wing. But now I'll have minimum 1/4 on both, so this is good solution.
