Brief Description: Flaps - Drill Hinge On To Wing 1
I've read a lot of builders sites about drilling the flap hinge and I've decided to do it now for two reasons: 1) all the parts are very accessible now and easy to work on and 2) the relationship between the flap and aileron is important to me to be good. And I want to do as much as practle on the wing kit before startig the fuselage.
So after studying the situation I had to locate the flap brace and bottom skin relative to each other with something that didn't get in the way of putting the flap in place. So I drilled two holes to #40 and put a opps rivet with the small head in the holes from the back side. See photo one.
Then I had to figure out a way to clamp the flap hinge for positioning prior to drilling. Turns out two small c-clamps on each side will do that.
I wanted to position the flap so it is: 1) trailing edge matches the aileron, 2) the trailing edges are in the same line, and 3) the gap between aileron and flap is parallel and mimimum in width.
