Brief Description: Flaps - Bending the doubler 6.3 degrees
I loved the challenge to figure out how to bend the 706B double 6.3 degrees. I didn't want to bend it along its length. I wanted a bend at the defined line. So I clamped it in my big vice. Note I've replaced the steel jaws with oak wood. Then I used bar clamps and clamped another piece of oak on the outside also at the bend line. Then I used the leverage of the bar clamps to lift and bend the double. It did not require strength. I could feel the plastic deformation. Each give was about 3 degrees so with two lifts into the plastic deformation zone I achieved exactly 6.3 degrees. See photo of the protractor. I assembled the parts and they fit fine. Also I don't think 6.3 degrees is critical because there seems to be some elasticity in the parts that lets them line up as drilled.
