I started the flaps today. I'm still thinking about changing out more rivets on the wing skins, but I'll work on the flaps while I study that.
First remove the blue stuff. This does take awhile, but it doesn't require any thinking so I like this job. Then debur. I start with the large file on the edges especially the spar to make them smooth and remove the bumps. Then I scrap the edges with v-shaped debur tool which seems to take off the little lip left behind by the cutting process. Then I sand by hand to remove any sharp corners or nicks. Finally I polish with the scotchbrite wheel. This takes a couple days a few hours at a time. 3 hours total is about what it took to debur the flap parts.
Then I start clecoing together the parts. This is always fun because you discover how things will fit together.
