Brief Description: Main Skins - Top Skin Scarf Joint 1
I'm back to the main skins. LEs and Tanks are installed. Time to finish the main skins. I've gotta make the scarf joint, roll the overlaping edge a bit, dimple, prime, and rivet. But before I rivet them on I'll be installing the pitot bracket.
The instructions seem pretty short and simple for making this scarf joint. I read a bunch on other people's sites and there seems to be a lot of thinking about this. I just followed the simple directions and I think it turned out just great.
I taped off the overlapping triangle and used my sander to shave down the skins. I worked from edge inward which made the edges thinner. I measured with my calipers to make sure I didn't go below .030 thinkness.
