Brief Description: Elevator - Left Elevator's Tab Fold
I folded in the tabs on the left elevator. I made a 2X4 out of partical board because it is hard, dense, and holds a nice corner. Then I sliced it with a cut of width 3" by 13". I used double back carpet tape and put the boards one inside and one outside as shown in the plan and in RVATOR. I also put a board at the end of the elevator to keep it from sliding away. I did not get any movement when I bent my tabs. I think it was due to the tape and that board at the end. I had a lot of trouble getting the boards and tape off. The tape really stuck. I used a small piece of wood and hammered over the lower tab then the upper tab.
I got a pretty good fold as shown, but a small rise on the upper surface due to the material of the lower tab pushing it up. I probably should have cut off a little material from the inside tab to prevent this. But it is exactly perpendicular to the hinge line and should end up parallel to the trim tab itself, when I make it.
Two boards clamped and End Board to prevent sliding away
