I started building the 'real' airplane. I'm starting with the horizontal stabilizer (HS) like the instructions show. I polished the doublers a long time with scotch bright pad. Probably not good enough yet. I may have to use wet sand paper. Then for assembly of the doublers to the rear spar, I used the technique of clecoing directly into the workbench top. Worked great. Drill Cleco, drill cleco is fast.
Then I positioned all the hinge brackets across the rear spar, drilled, and marked everything.
I riveted my first parts; the elevator hinge bearing and 6 universal rivets. The -5 rivets seemed short, but drawing clarifies that the -5 length is correct. Becareful not to let squeezer hit the bearing when squeezing.
