Brief Description:  Fiber Glass Stuff

Here is the stuff I'm using for the fiberglass parts of the project.

The Rage Gold is polyester resin and is great light weight filler, but it CANNOT be used on the canopy. This is great for filling in gaps, seams, pulled rivet heads and other blemishes. Sands very smooth. The polyester resin will melt the canopy. So be sure to keep it away from the canopy. I call this stuff "mud" in my construction log.

The West Coast stuff is epoxy resin which is what you do use on the plexiglass canopy. Also I learned from a pro not to use the fiber glass that is weaved and looks like cloth with orthogonal threads. Instead use the cloth made of little strips and every which direction. The reason is because the cloth stuff reflects light different no matter how you paint it so don't use it on surface parts. Use the random thread cloth instead. This is also used with 'micro balloons" and glass threads. Micro balloons are tini glass balloons that add thickness to the resin and make it a little like mud. Tthe glass strips are little strips that add strength to the resin and also make it like mud.

I also have some black stain that turns the resin black, which is good on the canopy for the look from the inside out.
