Brief Description:  Annual Inspection 1

It is time for the first annual inspection of the RV-7A I built. I have received my maintenance license so I am both qualified and legal to perform the inspection and sign-off. A sign-off indicating airworthiness is needed every year by a certified A&P.

I made an extensive inspection check list that included all the important items I could find from other builders plus a few of things I wanted to include. Some of the things on my mind are: fuel filter, and push rod connections.

To get started I flew for 20 minutes to warm up the engine oil so it would drain easily. I filled with Philips X/C 20W-50 Mineral Oil and added CamGuard additive. I also took a sample and sent it in for analysis.

I did find some fresh looking oil drops on the back side of the snorkle. I noticed a couple of bolts in the engine holding up the sump were slightly loose so I tightened those. I'll check again next year.
