I got on Michael Seager's calendar for transition training. We started with a couple of flights that made me feel like I'd never flown an airplane before. Then it snowed on Thursday and snowed again on Friday so we bagged it.
Mike is the official Van's factory CFI for learning how to fly an RV. He teaches about holding the nose gear up as much as possible for taxi, take-off and landing. With his method there is very little stress on the nose gear. He takes off and lands from a grass strip, sometimes filled with snow with no problem.
