Brief Description:  Leaky Light Lens

I went flying this Sunday and rain came. I flew home in the rain, but it was dry at my hangar. I had two issues:

1) There was a leak dripping on my ankles. I think it was run-off of rain from the canopy down thru the avionics area. But it could be coming in the crack at the front of the canopy. I do have a drip shield cloth and weather stripping. I'm not too concerned because it stopped shortly after take off which makes me think it was run-off from canopy.

2) My wing tip lens leaked in water and bubbled up on the inside of the lens. This is not serious because the LED light is sealed and there is not anything to get damaded. But there was sufficient moisture to bug me.

So I researced and found some thin double sided acrylic clear tape. It is not to sticky and seemed like it would make a good closure around the edge of the lens without looking bad. It appears to have worked in that I can see it sealed and doesn't look bad. But I won't know if it leaks until I fly in the rain again. I split the tape lengthwise so it is only < 1/4" so it follows the contour without wrinkles. The white you see is backing.

I does raise the edge of the lens slightly above the wing tip, but not much and I think it is okay.
