I read Lycoming's proceedure to start a Fuel Injected engine and them mention to types of injection: 1) Bendix Type and 2) Sannderson or something I can't remember. Anyway, I emailed Lycoming and within a few hours they clarified that my engine had a Bendix type. The fuel injection system is AvStar. So the start procedure is:
Starting with Mixture Off; Fuel Off; Prop in
1) Push Mixture in 2) Push Thruttle full in 3) Turn on fuel pump 3-5 seconds until you see fuel flow on the gauge 4) Mixture and Throttle off (out) 5) Mixture in full 6) Throttle in to idle (1000 RPMs) which is about 1/4 inch I guess.
So I did all this and it started up in about 8 - 9 seconds. I was shocked. We ran it for 3 minutes. CHTs rose to about 225 F. EGTs rose to about 1100. I tested the brakes by letting it roll a few inches that's all.
I did not test: Mags, Prop, Alt. Need to do it again.
