Brief Description:  Trim Servo Calibrations

I spent a couple days frustrated that I couldn't get the aileron trim servo to calibrate and show correctly on the HDX screen. The Pitch Servo works fine. I spent several emails with Dynon and Vans forum. And I made a call to Ray Allen, the trim servo company, to find out how to test the servo. Ray Allen was very helpful. Dynon told me I had a wiring problem.

I ended up taking apart the trim servo connector and testig all the wires. They seemed correct.
I tested the trim servo and it was okay to. Here is data on the three indicator wires of the servo.
Orange is 5 Volts in and one end of the coil
Black is Ground and is the other end of the coil of wires, opposite from orange.
Green is the needle wire that moves along the coil.
There should be 5,000 ohms between orange and blue. There should be 5,000 ohms as the sum between Grn and Org and Grn and Blue. Email me if you need clarification.

I took apart the main connector on the ACM. This was a drag. Guess what? Everthing was 100% correct. I did not make a mistake on wiring.

Finally I found under the EMS menu on SkyView a menu pick that said Aileron Calibration. It didn't say trim. And trim is NOT connected to EMS. So I don't know why dynon puts this menu pick there. They did.

Anyway after 3 minutes of setting up the Aileron Calibration everything works fine now. When I move the coolie hat the trim indicators move slowly and in the correct direction.

Oh, I had to switch the coolie hat wiring to change direction of the aileron trim. That is how you reverse it, if needed.
