Brief Description:  Anti Splat 1

I thought adding the Anti Splat devices would be trivial, but it wasn't. Took all morning to get this nose gear ready for flight.

First I discovered I had temporary nuts on the gear and had to install the permanent nylocks per the drawings. Then remove the bracket that holds the nose pant because I don't want to use the nose wheel pant on first few flights. Brackets on the main require removing the wheel to remove the brackets so I'll leave them on. Should be fine. The are in line with the airflow.

Then I had to recheck the break away force needed to turn the gear. I added grease and tightened the nut until I had 22 or more pounds need to turn the gear. I tried to err on the high side so as to eliminate vibrations or shacking. Nut seems pretty tight. Mearsuring with a fish scale is inaccurate. But I like the result.

Had to drill a hole thru the gear leg for cotter pin. Took me 4 drill bits to get that little hole drilled.

I added the skid plate. This was not easy. I twas too large and I sanded down its post. Cotter pin helps hold itup too, but I had to beat it in with a hammer. I hope I can get it out if I need to. Can't really turn the nut with it in. Darn.
