I've decided to finish this top cowl before pulling off the lower and working on it. So next is to install the airflow baffle that keeps incoming wind from tumbling in an eddy inside the engine compartment. This baffle makes the incoming air flow straight in and down thru the cylinders.
I looked at a lot of construction sites and it looks like the two edges need to be filled in and made smooth.
Also note the baffle and any extensions need to clear the engine and ring gear.
I made forms with duct tape and laid up fiberglass on the duct tape to close the ends. This baffle is somewhat of a figure-it-out job, as you go.
