Brief Description:  Wings-Ailerons 3

Thirty minutes after spraying the etch primer I spray the grey sandable primer. This is 2 - 4 coats depending on whether I think there are cracks to fill. Mostly I give it just 2 coats. This is new aluminum and there are no cracks like there was on the Cherokee fiber glass wheel pants.

Then after priming, I wait a day or two before painting on the grey stripe. I sand the primer with P400 wet sandpaper. This takes the rough feel out of the primer and makes it smooth. Being smooth seems to help the paint lay down smooth.

I spray the grey strip at one end. I'll tape this and then spray the white. It gets two medium coats.

This time I lowered the temperature from 72 down 3 degrees to 69. I used slightl less kicker and most importantly I change from my 1.3 nozzel to a 1.4 nozzel so I could spray more paint.

This time I got a much better finish with very little orange peel. The paint looks and feels excellent.

Then after spraying the grey stripe I taped off the 2 inch stripe and sprayed the white.
