Brief Description:  Wings-Ailerons 2

After removing the flaps, I slightly buff the rivet lines with grey Scotch Brite in preparation for filling the rivet heads with glaze. Then I wipe the lines with Acetone.

I mix up some glaze with hardener and smear a dab on top of each rivet. Goes fast. I push hard. The point is not to fill the rivet head flush with the skin but rather to smash some glaze down around the flush rivet head so the primer and paint looks smooth.

Then I sand the line of rivet heads. This is messy. And I rub the whole thing with grey Scotch Brite to create scratches for a mechanical bond with the etch primer.

Finally, I take them outside and wash them with soap and water. The soap I'm using is actually the aluminum cleaner that is mostly soap and maybe a little degreaser.

Then I take them to the paint booth.

At the paint booth I spray them liberally with De-waxer, De-grease fluid and wipe them down. I let them dry, which is quick and wipe a bit with a perfectly clean cloth as necessary.

Then they are ready for etch primer. The etch primer goes on thin. One coat. Wait 30 minutes and spray on the grey sandable primer. You've gotta cover the etch primer within 8 hours.
