Okay, moving on to the wings. First I painted the flaps. The outside edges of the flaps had rattle can primer which I had to take off. It comes off with Acetone but its a pain. I use up a lot of rags getting it off. Rags can't be cleaned and it ruins them to wipe off primer. Finally, got the primer off.
Then I slightly scratched the surface with grey scotch brite.
Again I filled each rivet hole. Well, not filled, just wiped in a little bondo compound (Glaze) to fill the crack around the rivets. You can still see the rivet location but the slit around the flush head is filled.
Then I thoroughly washed and degreased them.
Figuring out how to hang parts for painting is a challenge. These I hung vertically for simplicity, but next when I do the ailerons I'm going to try to lay them flat because I get a little orange peel when they are vertical and I get a flatter finish when they are laying flat.
I put on the etch or wash primer and at the 30 minute mark I put on 2 coats of primer.
Next day I sprayed them with 1 medium and 1 wet coat of paint. I was careful not to make them so wet that runs start. If they were laying flat I could put on more paint.
