Brief Description:  Getting Started with Spray Guns & Paint

So now I've had some practice from painting my Piper Cherokee Wheel Pants I'm ready to start painting my RV. My existing Devilbiss gun is great and I'll use it for primer. And I bought a second Devilbiss for paint. It is the Tekna model. A bit more expensive but suppose to be better for painting single stage urethane by a novice.

I also had to buy paint. I really wanted touse Sherwin Williams Jet glow system but I can only get some of the components for Sky Geek and I'm worried I won't be able to get materials when I need them. There are no dealers anywhere near here and the ones in Arlington and Seattle don't carry the aeroproducts. So after a lot of research I've decided to use car urethane. According to the spec sheets it is the same paint. And local auto parts store carry all kinds of it and can mix colors.

So the car paint I chose is Nason. It is owned by Dupont. Recall I used car urethane on the wheel pants and they look fine.

There are over a dozen chemicals in this painting system. Basically they are a wash or etch primer, a sandable primer and paint. Each has it's own thinner and catalyst or activator. Some have an accelerator. And there is also degreaser. My advice is use ONE manufacturer's complete system rather than mixing and matching. And get the TDS Technical Data Sheets and follow the directions on mixing, waiting between coats and drying.
