Brief Description:  Wing Tips: Embedded Lens Cover 5

To call the tips done, I put 4-pin connectors on the lights. And the female connector on a long wire that runs up the wing. I used 20 gauge 3 conductor with shield. I used the shield as the ground. I ran the ground all the way to the wing root. I did not ground it at the tip. I thought I would, but didn't. I'm thinking I'll ground it just inside the fuselage at the wing root.

I bench tested the lights. The work great.

Last thing to do was install an antenna wire for the VOR antenna. The end of the wire near the antenna doesn't need a connector because it just bolts on. But I'll need a connector at the wing root, so I put one on.

A couple years ago I took the EAA wiring class and there is a little manual with helpful instructions on exactly how to trim the coax cable to receive the connector. It was kinda fun.

I bought a squeezer and tools for squeezing various electrical terminals. I'll add photos of it to the tools section of my log.

I did final electrical testing of the lights from the wing root to ensure all the wires are connected correctly. They are.

And the Wing Tips are done. Now get on with riveting the bottom skins.
